Support for English Language Learners/Multilingual Learners - Google
Language learning can be very difficult and can become increasingly difficult when the barrier of communication is present. Luckily there are many tools and strategies to deploy in the classroom, school, and community to support students and families learning English. Resources include: creating language access and agency, making school accessible, and engaging ELL/MLL families. Resources to connect with NYS/NYC Regional Bilingual Education Network Resource, that includes professional development opportunities, teaching tools and added support services for students and MLL teachers.
A Guide to Providing Mental Health Services to Immigrants Impacted by Changes to DACA and the COVID-19 Pandemic
The development of this guide was supported by organizations that advocate for humane immigration policy and provide services to immigrant communities (FWD.us and Immigrants Rising).
The guide contains 10 steps that providers can take in order to improve their cultural responsiveness and clinical knowledge on supporting individuals who benefit from DACA. Each step in the guide includes introductory information as well as a list of resources for further reading and education.
To mitigate some of the challenges students face right now, Teaching Matters has pivoted and swiftly redeployed its 50-person team to help. They have created student-facing online materials for grades K- 8 across all content areas for use during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis.
